The Australian Coalition Against Death Penalty ( a registered non-profit human rights organisation working for a death penalty-free world) strongly condemns the setting of an execution date for the Mexican national, Edgar Tamayo, by the US state of Texas. The execution would constitute a clear breach of domestic and international law, and is therefore is considered illegal.

Argentine Objection to Predatory Hedge Funds

The Supreme Court will review a lower court's order for banks to give information on Argentine assets, including those assets held outside of US jurisdiction, to a group of hedge funds seeking to collect from Argentina's 2001 default. Additionally, the High Court will review if it is legal for these predatory hedge funds to target assets for collection outside of a US jurisdiction.

Police continue to use VLAD laws to harass people in Queensland

Public harassment and unjust imprisonment is becoming commonplace in Queensland since the Premier Newman and his cronies introduced the Vicious Lawless Associates Directive (2013) one of a range of legal tools being used ostensibly to target bikies who are in criminal gangs. Widespread repercussions on innocent people are being reported, because of the broadness of it's application and the free rein being given to police to apply it.
