2 Oct 15: "Dear Special Rapporteur Shaheed:
We, the indigenous Wangan and Jagalingou people, write to you in urgent and worrying times as our traditional lands, connection to country and cultural identity are under imminent threat of irreversible destruction from the proposed development of the massive Carmichael Coal Mine by a private company, Adani Mining, with the support of the Australian government. Attached to this letter is a detailed submission for your reference. Although the attached submission is directed to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, as you will see from section III of the submission it is also relevant to your mandate because of the impacts to our cultural identify from the proposed coal mine. We have also sent this submission to the UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises because of the bad faith actions Adani Mining has taken towards our people. ... 3 Oct 15: "The traditional owners of the Galilee Basin region in central Queensland are appealing to the United Nations to stop the Adani Carmichael coal mining project. Spokesman Adrian Burragubba said the traditional owners voted down a land use agreement with Adani almost 12 months ago, but their objections had been overlooked by both the State and Federal governments. "We haven't consented to them destroying our traditional homelands, and we don't take any of their offers," he said. ... " By Emma Blackwood

3 Oct 15: "A new front has opened in the battle over Australia's largest coal mine with Indigenous landholders in central Queensland taking their complaint to the United Nations. ... In a submission to the UN, the group's representatives Adrian Burragubba and Murrawah Johnson allege the mine would violate a number of the rights of traditional owners, including rights to culture, rights to "free, prior and informed consent" and the right to give or withhold consent to "the development of significant extractive industries on our land". "By supporting and facilitating the Carmichael coal mine, Australia is thus violating its duty to protect our fundamental, universally recognised human rights," ... 3 Oct 15: "An indigenous group is calling on the United Nations to help them stop an Indian coal group building a $16.5 billion mine on their lands in Queensland. Adani's Carmichael mine, expected to export at least 50 million tonnes of coal a year, is slated for the Galilee Basin on traditional lands of the Wangan and Jagalingou people. Members for the indigenous group are now urging the UN's Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples to intervene to protect their lands from "irreversible destruction".
