U.S. war criminals in Oz as Australia boosts its involvement in U.S. war machine

Hillary Clinton arrived in Melbourne today (6/11/2010) and will soon be joined by Secretary of Defence Robert Gates. These high level U.S. war criminals will then be meeting the Prime Minister and other politicians as part of the annual AUSMIN talks in Canberra on Monday. The whole visit and itinerary has been kept secret, supposedly for "security" but more likely to prevent any public protests against U.S. imperialism and the U.S. Australian alliance. On the agenda for the talks include the development of new U.S. bases in Australia, escalation of the conflict with Iran and of course Australia's involvement in the increasingly bloody Afghan war. If anyone has any details of any snap protests planned please post ASAP.

Weā€™re doing our bit on climate change. It's time to make our political leaders do theirs. This election join a Walk near you and help us convince our political leaders to: Walk with the people. Not the Big Polluters.

While our political leaders have been squabbling, the rest of us have been getting on with the business of dealing with climate change.

We're going green and clean. We're reducing our greenhouse pollution and recycling our waste. We're saving water and energy, and buying greenpower. And we're forming climate action groups - all across the country.

Prime Minister avoids climate protest and talk of climate change

The missing words at Julia Gillard's first address as Prime Minister to the National Press Club was "climate change". Outside the building Climate activists from Rising Tide Newcastle had dumped a ute full of coal at the entrance. The protesters called on the Gillard Government to announce a climate change policy that addresses Australia's principal source of greenhouse pollution - coal.

Veterans group says President Obama not welcome down under

MEDIA RELEASE, 2 June, 2010 - Stand Fast, the Australian-based veterans group which is comprised of veterans and former military personnel who oppose the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, is calling on all people of conscience to protest the upcoming visit of Barack Obama in mid-June.

"Why should we welcome a war criminal?" asked Stand Fast spokesperson and East Timor veteran, Hamish Chitts. "Obama is not a force for progress, he is not a man of peace - from his first day in office he has firmly placed himself in the camp of the warmongers and war-profiteers."
