Tony Abbott is at it again but don’t think for a moment these are gaffes

By Dr Woolombi Waters - courtesy of The National Indigenous Times - A little over a month ago it was reported Tony Abbott as the Prime Minister of Australia made a political gaffe or blunder when he stated “I guess our country owes its existence to a form of foreign investment by the British government in the then unsettled or, um, scarcely settled, Great South Land.”

Prime Minister or Village Idiot?

By Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The Stringer and The National Indigenous Times - Australia was founded on bloodshed, and its historical identity and its origins-of-thinking include slavery (blackbirding), social engineering, apartheid, racism. To deny all of this is to keep Australians hostage to the various veils and layers of racism. Understanding the past is to free up the present and the future from being held hostage by lies. Far too often our ability to discover the truth has been outstripped by the capacity to manifest deceit.

'Gentleman's Club' eject knitters in pink balaclavas as Sydney's Festival of Dangerous Ideas welcomes Pussy Riot

Four pink-hooded knitters were forcibly ejected from Sydney's oldest 'Gentleman's Club' 'The Australian', today, declaring they were seeking refuge after recent women's refuge closures. The group unfurled a 4x3meter knitted banner in the club's lobby & proceeded to sit on it and knit as irate staff dragged their wool and a giant 'Vagina Dentata Taxidermy' from the venue.

Urgent: Abbott is rushing through laws to attack your rights at work

Tony Abbott is trying to rush through laws that introduce new unfair individual contracts that cut take home pay, give more power to employers in bargaining and make it harder for workers to access their union. But to do all this he needs the crucial votes of at least six cross-bench senators.

We can stop Abbott’s attack dead in its tracks if just three cross-bench senators vote against the bill. It looks like the vote will take place this Wednesday so we need to act fast and we need everyone to play their part.

Forrest’s report misunderstands welfare and parity

By Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The National Indigenous Times and The Stringer - The Forrest report – ‘Creating Parity’ – which pushes the line of ‘seismically’ changing the landscape for First Nations people contains more than just how to incentivise job creation for First Nations people. It describes the potential for a whole lot of social engineering in order to bring on ‘equality’ as Mr Forrest and his co-authors see it.

Beheadings in Saudi Arabia - A Public Sport

Public beheadings are taking place twice daily in Saudi Arabia. A total of 45 beheadings have been carried out in the desert kingdom this year, according to an AFP tally.

Human Rights Watch expressed alarm at the surge in the number of executions in Saudi Arabia, where some 19 people were beheaded between August 4 and 20 alone. HRW said eight of those executed had been convicted of non-violent offences such as drug trafficking and 'sorcery', and described the use of the death penalty in their cases as 'particularly egregious'.

What we're being told about ISIS just doesn't add up

A few debate-changing points of information about ISIS:

1. The trapped Yesidis were rescued not by US airstrikes but mainly by a ground offensive by kurdish groups -- anarchist-oriented YPG and nationalist-opportunist PKK who both represent a broad multiethnic regional population and have relatively progressive goals.

The Great Barrier Reef: The battle rages on

Once again, serious questions are being raised about the decision to allow the dumping of dredge spoil in Australia's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Last January, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) approved a plan to dump three million cubic metres of dredge spoil inside the marine park to expand the Abbot Point coal port.
Internal documents obtained by Australia's current affairs program, Four Corners has revealed the decision was made against the recommendations of senior scientists. The story was televised last week.
Journalist Marian Wilkinson reported,
