STOP Imperialist War against Syria

We, the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS), condermn in the strongest terms the duplicitous scheme of the US and NATO in instigating, funding and arming the so-called Syrian National Council and Free Syrian Army to seek the violent overthrow of the Assad government in Syria and at the same time pushing a “peace plan” and then a “transitional government” under the auspices of the UN in order to politically outmanuever the Assad government and the anti-imperialist and democratic forces.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

While we mourn the passing of our great elder, Ned Mayaringbungu Cheedy, the Cheedy family and Yindjibarndi elders want the life and example of Mayaringbungu to be celebrated and remembered. From Mayaringbungu we learn about being straight with our country and our spirit offers something beautiful and strong to our young people.

Two videos celebrating Mayaringbungu¹s life and work have been produced by Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation of Roebourne.
Both these videos can be seen online at http://www.isuma.tv/hi/en/yindjibarndi

Climate Commission comes to Melbourne - climate risks for Victoria

I attended the Climate Commission public forum in Melbourne last Tuesday night with my daughter. I felt that it was important that she came along to see the charts on the screen, to hear from the Climate Commissioners and climate scientists directly, and perhaps question them about her future. Because global warming will have an increasing impact on the climate of the future, and the life of the kids of today, and eventually their children and future generations.

Bob Brown: why I'm leading the Sea Shepherd to the Kimberley

by former Greens leader Bob Brown

James Price Point, on the Kimberley coast, has been in the news because Woodside - with a who's-who of other drillers including BP, BHP Billiton, Shell, Mitsubishi, and Chevron - is set to build the world's biggest gas factory there. But this ancient region has another story to tell.

It's a stunning ochre-red headland located north of Broome, and culturally known as Walmadan.

Labor's sad, short deviation from a 'White Australia' mentality

Green Left Weekly
Thursday, July 26, 2012
By Tony Harris

The recent attacks on the Greens by notable Labor Party figures over the refusal of the Greens to compromise over offshore processing of asylum seekers represents a new low for the Labor Party. The attacks by assorted Labor right-wingers are predictable. But most disappointing was Labor Left Senator Doug Cameron's criticism, outrageously accusing the Greens of being responsible for asylum seekers dying because of their "purist approach".
