secular ethics in education

I just wanted Australia to go the way of secular ethics in education. Like there is in India. Not adhering to Judeo-Christianity as a dominant force in a country that has oppressed its people, mostly Indigenous, in a very disheartening way for too long. Also not Islamic nor Hinduism, nor any other religion. We want the religion of the human heart and of respect for all peoples and nationalities and all living creatures. Do not get me wrong. I am not saying I am against people practising their religions, far from it.

A Public Forum where you can have your say. Although there are now many sites where people comunicate, the fact is, politicans aren't listening and democracy is down the drain. The forum and workshop is designed to be empowering and inspirational for those concerned at what is happening in our society. Also to bring groups actively working for social change together to work towards common goals - restoring justice & democracy. A community table will be available for fliers from other groups involved in social change movements but must be submitted for approval before the forum.

Forcing the government to give justice

A Preston couple, Chris and Susan Field, are among a growing number of home owners objecting to bank fraud and injustice in the courts.
In late December the Fields were the lead story on both A Current Affair and Today Tonight at the same time. They have already been EVICTED from their home, BUT THEY WENT BACK IN a week later and are still living in their own home.
Serena Moeau was also featured on the Current Affair story, about her four year battle against the bank that wants her home.

Alpine grazing action alert - Friends of the Earth

Cattle were removed from the Alpine National Park in 2005 by the government of Steve Bracks. This was an important step forward for good land management in our state. Since then, some of the long term damage caused by decades of grazing have started to heal. However, the Victorian Coalition announced in the build up to the November election that it would return cattle grazing to Victoria's alpine national parks as a tool to reduce fire risk.

Following the Global Action for Tasmania's forests on 15 December 2010, with the help of emails and actions in 52 cities in 21 countries around the world, the Tasmanian Government has announced a moratorium on the logging of High Conservation Value forests in Tasmania!

This is a tremendous victory for the conservation of nature BUT the devil is in the detail.

On Sunday 5th December, hundreds of people gathered near Australia’s equal single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions - Bayswater Power Station in the Hunter Valley - to challenge the NSW Government’s proposal to build another coal-fired power station that will rival the size of Bayswater.

The persecution of Julian Assange and wikileaks for publishing diplomatic cables, and information on the Afghanistan and Iraq wars is just the latest in government suppression of freedom of speech and human rights and liberties, which past generations have fought for including the men and women of the Eureka rebellion in Ballarat in 1854. I have just returned from Ballarat where I was part of the commemoration of the Eureka Rebellion in 1854 - the 156th anniversary. The struggle for democratic rights and liberties and against corrupt government continues in 2010.
