Global Day of Action for Tasmania's Forest's II

Date and Time:
Tuesday, March 15, 2011 -
7:00am to 5:00pm
Location:
Anywhere you want to hold an action!

Following the Global Action for Tasmania's forests on 15 December 2010, with the help of emails and actions in 52 cities in 21 countries around the world, the Tasmanian Government has announced a moratorium on the logging of High Conservation Value forests in Tasmania!

This is a tremendous victory for the conservation of nature BUT the devil is in the detail.

Please send another email today to ensure that no areas of high conservation value forests are left out of the deal. More political pressure needs to be applied for the moratorium to be delivered in full. And lobbying efforts are needed for the Members of the Tasmanian Legislative Council who will be voting for the formal legislation to be introduced to protect the High Conservation Value Forests, if they vote no, then the forests will remain threatened.

Please join us for a day of action on 15 March 2011, in case the moratorium is not in place and we need to seek urgent action on delivering the moratorium.

Please encourage your friends to do likewise by forwarding this information to them. If you are on Facebook, please "attend" the event at www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=136438633077930&num_event_invites=0 so that your Facebook friends get to find out about this action.
