The Energising South East Asia Conference and Exhibition, to be held in Perth, Western Australia, is on track to become Australia’s largest sustainable energy expo, says the organiser, the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia (SEA).

‘The Energising SEA expo has attracted overwhelming interest, so much so that part way through the organisation of the event last year we had to double the floor space available for exhibitors,’ says Lisa Murray, Membership and Events Manager for SEA.

SURVIVAL INTERNATIONAL - - Peru’s authorities have announced that they will work together with Brazil to stop loggers entering isolated Indians’ territory along the two countries’ joint border. In Melbourne, a smaller number, about 500 people, gathered outside the State Library where protesters heard from a number of speakers including Kevin Bracken, President of the Victorian Trades Hall Council, Greens MP Colleen Hartland, and speakers from the muslim and egyptian communities.

The British mobile phone multi-national has collaborated with the Mubarak regime by sending out millions of texts via its network to Egyptians calling for support for the regime and inciting violence against peaceful protestors. The messages have included this one "The Armed Forces asks Egypt's honest and loyal men to confront the traitors and criminals" which is sinister in the context of the violent killings and assaults of protestors seen in Egypt in the last few days.

Australia has been called on to enact a Human Rights Act, recognise same-sex marriage, abolish mandatory immigration detention and entrench Indigenous rights in the Constitution following a major international review before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

The review, known as the Universal Periodic Review, is a process which provides all 192 UN countries the opportunity to ask questions and make recommendations regarding the human rights performance of the country under review.
