Call-out to 8th anniversary of the death in a police chase of Aboriginal youth tj hickey

A colour leaflet is available advertising the 8th anniversary of 17 year old tj hickey who died as a result of a redfern police chase on st. valentine's day 2004 when he was rammed by a police vehicle that catapulted him onto a spiked fence.

on this 8th anniversary we are attempting to build our numbers to show the redfern police and the nsw government of barry o'farrell that we are not going to forget our true obligation to the memory of tj, his mother gail hickey and his sisters. as they will never forget the injustice that was done to tj on that infamous day, nor should we.

Remember TJ Hickey Rally Feb 14th

The family and supporters of T J Hickey, an Aboriginal youth killed in Redfern in the course of a police pursuit (another death in custody that was whitewashed), thought they were going to have a small win and be allowed to have a plaque commemorating his death at the spot where he was killed. But the police are objecting to words describing his death which were taken straight from the death certicate. The truth, once again, is forbidden! This was a rally and march (on February 14, 2011) in Redfern to mark seven years since this killing.

International Justice for TJ Day - Melbourne, 14 February, 2010.

As the 6th anniversary of her son’s death approached, Gail Hickey called on supporters to make 14 February an International Justice for TJ Day (see below). Answering this call, the Indigenous Social Justice Association – Melbourne (ISJA-Melb) organised a rally at Fitzroy Town Hall attended by over 40 supporters, followed by a march to the local police station.
