Honduras in Australia, Without Borders

A collaborative piece between seven..

On 13 July 2013, in Sydney, we met at hollis park to ride our bicycles through Redfern down to Enmore park. Amongst all the voices there are there is one voice, the things said now, and to say those things we used our fingers where paintbrushes would go, and we painted a banner because our world is a world of words and on that sign we said, Plunders and murders stop 4 years of coup in Honduras.

Letter from Honduras, of demand/solidarity against repression at Syd Uni

Tegucigalpa, Honduras
11 July 2013

To the university authorities of University of Sydney, Australia

In the honour of solidarity between the peoples of the world, from Honduras, we learnt of the abuses by police against university students and workers and other people who fight for better conditions at this University. These people had their rights violated: we demand an end to this repression.

We join our voices in calling for the respect of people's integrity and for a liberatory education.

June 18, 2013

“We’re not selling this oxygen to anybody,” said Vitalino Álvarez, a participant in the Unified Aguán Farmers´ Movement (MUCA) in the boiling hot northern region of Honduras. Like many places around Honduras and the world, Álvarez’s community is a direct victim of international carbon trading programs—or what residents call “selling oxygen.”

Solidarity gathering for the Honduran resistance

On 23 June 2012 on the Iberoamerican Plaza next to Central Station, Sydney, 40 people gathered as a community in solidarity with the people of Honduras against the continued political killings, human rights violations and environmental exploitation that has been driven by an internationally coordinated military coup since 28th June 2009. The coup was to ensure conditions to allow business to do whatever they want without regard for human lives and the environment.
