Rally calling for the decriminalisation of sex work in South Australia

Date and Time:
Thu, 02/06/2011 -
12:00pm to 2:00pm
Location:
Steps of parliament house, North Trc, Adelaide

South Australian sex work laws criminalising sex workers date back to the 1930's. The laws are harmful to sex workers, discriminatory and out of date. Police regularly raid suspected brothels, arrest sex workers, use condoms and other safe sex info as evidence, harass and intimidate sex workers.

We are the last state in Australia to not revisit our sex industry laws and as a result sex workers are being forced to put police evasion techniques before safety strategies.

Videos of Adelaide actions (direct and otherwise) against Israeli apartheid

The Adelaide based organisation Action For Palestine and a number of other independent activists organised an action against the Israeli cosmetics company SEACRET. This action was taken as part of the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign which seeks to end Israel's apartheid policies against the Palestinians (see http://www.bdsmovement.net/ for more info).

Report on Adelaide 2011 World Nude Bike Ride

On March 12th, nude cyclists joined the worldwide movement for peace, sane transport and cyclists rights by cycling through Adelaide. After meeting up in Vic Square, we made off for the Secret HQ and got stripped down and painted up. I think I speak for everyone when I say, this was some serious, hardcore fun. Slogans from ranged from "I heart Cycling" to "C ME NOW?".

We headed through ALL Adelaide's most densely populated streets, ensuring plenty of exposure. This included some on the fly organizing, which ended in photographers waiting for us out the front of the Advertiser building.

March for Survival: Climate Action Now! (Adelaide)

Date and Time:
Sat, 26/03/2011 -
12:00pm to 2:00pm
Location:
Victoria Square, Adelaide

Support the victims of the recent floods, bush fires and cyclones
- Real climate action now - serious emissions cuts
- 100% Renewables by 2020

There have already been too many deaths from the recent tragic climate related disasters, and a changing climate means these once rare events are likely to increase in frequency and extremity.
...
But we still have time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change if we act now and mobilise as a community to demand a safe climate future.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Melrose - Over The Edge

This is an event held around the globe where we peacefully expose the vulnerability of cyclists, humanity and nature in the face of cars, aggression, consumerism and non-renewable energy. Because Melrose is so cutting edge, we have our own ride as would be expected. This is our 2nd year.
