Tasmania's World Heritage Listed forests

There's a concerning environmental issue we face here in Australia at the moment.

In June later this year, the World Heritage Committee will consider the Australian Government’s request to de-list 74,000ha of Tasmania’s newly added World Heritage forests. In 2012, industry and conservationists agreed to protect these forests through the hard-fought and historic Tasmanian Forest Agreement (TFA).

Geography:

From Sydney to Boggabri: Smash ANZ and Whitehaven Coal

Throughout Februrary and March 2014 dozens of ANZ billboards were vandalised across Sydney. Numerous ANZ branch facades were painted with slogans denouncing Whitehaven coal and the destruction of Leard state forest while their ATM card slots were glued shut. During the Mardi Gras festivities numerous ANZ “GAYTM’s” were vandalised with paint and in the days following the parade two of the pinkwashed machines on Oxford St were smashed with a metal bar.

RAPID COLLAPSE

Would you believe everything from food to power to gasoline could disappear in just a matter of weeks? From Ireland, David Korowicz explains how. Everybody could be hit, including dear old Australia.

There is a small industry of pundits warning something is about to collapse. A large and growing public suspects they are right.

Climate Dark Age

The bad news is planet Earth is already committed to very dangerous climate change. Dr. Michael Jennings published a paper in 2012 showing we are already in the worst case scenario. We'll talk with Dr. Jennings, from the University of Idaho.

We may be saved from utter disaster if an economic collapse comes sooner rather than later. Dr. Sing C. Chew will give us the good news about Dark Ages, and the signs we are entering one now.

American Fukushima

FUKUSHIMA - 3 YEARS LATER AND AMERICA LEARNED NOTHING

On the third anniversary of the worst nuclear disaster in the world, I talk with the authors of "Fukushima, The Story of a Nuclear Disaster".

As you'll hear, America is just waiting for it's own nuclear mega-disaster. Despite promises after March 2011, the U.S. industry is still stalling on safety-critical fixes to aging reactors. It's just a matter of time.

I interview a 17 year veteran of the American nuclear industry, expert David Lochbaum from the Union of Concerned Scientists.

The California Drought: Is this the big one?

Australia is no stranger to drought, or predictions of long-term drying. It's possible early settlers in both Australia and California simply lucked out on a long cyclical wet period, to be followed by much worse.

Scientists in North America have discovered past droughts in the southwest, including California, lasted hundreds of years. Is this the start of the big one?

From Sydney to Nantes, resistance & sabotage

On the evening of the 22nd of Feburary we vandalised the local headquarters of VINCI and their subsidiary company 'Advitam' in the Seven Hills industrial zone in western Sydney.
Some windows were cracked, and the slogans: “AGAINST VINCI AND ITS WORLD” &
“THE ZAD IS EVERYWHERE” were painted.

This small act was made in response to a call for actions in solidarity with the monumental struggle in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, France, against an airport which Vinci has been contracted to build.
