Hey all,

We're hosting an info night at Kindness House in Fitzroy. We thought it would be great to clarify all the information surrounding James Price Point, the gas plant and the rest of the Kimberley, to make sure we're all on the same page.

We will have presentations and discussions on the issue and present what has happened so far and what we intend to do over the coming months to years.

This is a great chance to clarify any questions you may have and consolidate the Melbourne Kimberley community's approach to this fight.

Feel free to bring along anyone interested.

The mainstream media presents the debate around the Gillard Government’s Carbon Tax as a choice between this scheme or nothing. While some in the environment movement argue the government plan is better than nothing, it is important to be clear about what real action on climate change would look like. You are welcome to join this discussion about the way forward.

The meeting will also include a report on campaigns taking place for new agreements across the Australia Public Service that have seen massive votes against management offers, protected action ballots and stop work action.

Chile solidarity - Melbourne, September 10 and 11

On the eve of the anniversary of not only the September 11 terrorist attacks in the US, but also of the 1973 CIA-backed Pinochet coup which overthrew the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende, LASNET organised a rally in solidarity with students, workers, and Indigenous people currently struggling against another right-wing government in Chile, that of Sebastian Piñera...

This was followed on Sunday by a commemoration of the September 11 coup, with speakers, music and a showing of the film "The Black Pimpernel" at Trades Hall.
