10 Sep 11: "Nicole Watson, a research fellow at the University of Technology Sydney’s Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning, gave the address below at the Sydney launch of Walk With Us: Aboriginal Elders Call Out to Australian People to Walk with them in their Quest for Justice at Gleebooks, Sydney, on September 1. * * * ... Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory deserve better. All Australians deserve better than measures that degrade and dehumanise the most marginalised people in our society."

- Media Release

Intervention Rollback Action Group: "The Intervention is killing our people"
http://rollbacktheintervention.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/mr-13-9-11-fi...
13 Sep 11: "September 13th marks 4 years since the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was adopted by the UN General Assembly and nearly 2½ years since the Australian Government publicly declared its support for this document.
But Northern Territory Aboriginal leader Barbara Shaw says the government has continued with an Intervention that is in flagrant breach of the Declaration and its commitment to Indigenous self-determination.
Ms Shaw is travelling to Dublin to take part in the Frontline Defenders Platform where she will meet with delegates from around the world who are at the forefront of the struggle for human rights. She will tell the conference the Intervention is leading to ill health including
stress-related early deaths and ever-increasing rates of attempted self-harm and substance abuse amongst her people.
"We live in a democracy" says Ms Shaw. "We are not at war but our people are dying from the racist policies that the government is putting on us. They won’t listen, they think they know what’s best for us. And they say they support the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples but they are not implementing any of the Declaration’s Clauses. In fact, the Northern Territory Intervention breaches most of them.""

http://ears2theground.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/anniversary-of-un-declara...
13 Sep 11: "Yesterday marked the four-year anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous peoples. The declaration was adopted on the 13th of September 2007, over 20 years after it was initially drafted in consultation with Indigenous groups and spokespeople across the world. The non-binding document describes the rights of Indigenous peoples to self-determination, as well as their rights to express their cultures, identities and languages, while it also sets a universal standard for employment, education and health outcomes within Indigenous communities. ... Australian Human Rights Commission: UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples should be fully implemented
http://www.hreoc.gov.au/about/media/media_releases/2011/82_11.html
13 Sep 11: "Four years ago today the United Nations acted on almost 30 years of advocacy by Indigenous Peoples around the world and adopted the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, but Social Justice Commissioner Mick Gooda says progress on its implementation has been slow.
Commissioner Gooda said the Declaration, which recognises the fundamental rights enjoyed by Indigenous peoples around the world, had been opposed by Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada when first adopted but was formally endorsed by Australia on 3 April 2009.
"Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were involved in campaigning for, and drafting, the Declaration which contains minimum standards for the survival, dignity and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples," Commissioner Gooda said.
"Although opposition to the Declaration is now confined to history, we need to remain determined in our efforts to make sure our communities, our governments and our legislators know how to use it in their everyday lives.
We need to increase people’s understanding of what it means to 'implement the Declaration' and one of the best ways to do this is through education," he said."

The book documents the detrimental impact of the Northern Territory intervention on Aboriginal people and features a call out from Aboriginal elders to Australians, asking them to walk with them in their quest for justice. The book aims to promote the campaign against the intervention by promoting the opinions and concerns of Aboriginal elders who are subject to the discriminatory laws." Adam Leeman, Sydney

8 Sep 11: "The NLC [Northern Land Council] took the nomination of the land to Canberra on behalf of the traditional owners of the land. But here’s the catch – while it says the site for the dump is exclusively land belonging to a branch of the Ngapa clan, several other groups say it’s theirs also, and it holds cultural significance. Previous reports have backed claims that it is a shared area with mixed dreamings, but the NLC says the exact site belongs to the one branch of the Ngapa clan, and them alone."

Winter 2011: "The Intervention is yet another example of the appalling treatment the Aboriginal People of Australia have been subjected to in such a short period of time compared to thousands of years of survival. Sinem Saban and Rev. Dr Gondarra supported by the Yolngu people and cinematographer, Damien Curtis, have created a sensitive and realistic view of the plight of those who wish to live a more traditional life in their homelands and of those who appear to be dispossessed." Summer 2010: "Local resident and journalist, Jeff McMullen introduced "Our Generation", the film by Sinem Saban and Damien Curtis which we were there to see. The film explored in depth the Federal Government Intervention into Aboriginal Communities in the Northern Territory. Jeff had told us that the film’s producers were not having any success in having the film shown on government or commercial media outlets and they were having to screen it in local community halls to show the community at large just what was involved in the Intervention. It is basically a war on Aboriginal culture. The dispossession of the Aboriginal people is simply continuing in a new guise." Carol Gerrard

Build houses in town, not bush: Doctor.

Dr Henry Newland from the Central North Adelaide Health Service says his patients in remote communities are already “voting with their feet” by relocating to urban centres of their own accord.
“Mostly it’s their children they’re worried about,”
he told the ABC’s Tatjana Clancy.
“They say they have no chance;
it’s hopeless in those communities.”
Doctor Newland said that in all his experience as a doctor he had not seen health, housing or education delivered in remote communities at a standard  that would be considered normal in the rest of the Australian population. He had also seen no significant improvement in health in those communities
“No one is saying anyone must go, and certainly old people should be held to see their days out with dignity in communities,” Dr Newland said.
“All people should be offered the best care that is available to them. That’s only reasonable.
“But my patients have decided for themselves
that it’s too high a price to pay to stay out there.
“OK, there is a cost to moving, but they’ve chosen and voted with their feet. So to me to spend money on a house out in a remote community at around $300-$400,000 house,
it would seem much more sensible to spend that money on houses closer to better care, better education.”
Doctor Newman said the main disease problem in remote communities was diabetes and the complications of diabetes causing blindness.
“Part of that is back to the dietary considerations, where there are obvious logistical and financial difficulties having proper food so far away,” he said.
“Why not have the diabetics near permanent non-visiting care in regional or urban centres? It’s been proven over decades that spending more money in remote communities doesn’t change anything

What has been happening in and around Alice Springs for “Many Years” is “Inhumane and Degrading”
With “Many” of “Our” People “Killing and Maiming” themselves and each other.
Long before the “Intervention” !!
Where were youse then !?
All “Jumping on the Bandwagon” Now !!
“Easy Target” the Government hey !?

Aboriginal People are said to be the “Most Researched People” in the “Whole World” !!
Yet it is a “Flourishing Industry” !!
Most of the “Researchers” these days are “Urban Academics”
The “Aboriginal Victim Industry” ( AVI )
aka
The “Aboriginal Elite” !!
How many Thousand of “Aboriginal Academics” are there ( employed ? ) in these ( bursting at the seams ) “Indigenous Units” or so called
“Research Centres” ?
Under the general heading of “Aboriginal Education” there is “Unlimited' Gubbernment Funding” !!
Or, if “More Money” is required, there's always the old, Just “Closing the Gap” Boss !!
They have it “All Worked Out” !!
Just “Play Jacky-Jacky” !!
This is what's “Expected” of “Us” !!
And it “Suits Everyone” !!
These so-called, “Arm-Chair Experts” generate
( pull in ) Many “Hundreds of Millions of Dollars” a Year !! And have been for quite a few years.
And All they offer is “Eternal Victim-hood” !!
Blame the “Government” !! Blame the “White-fellas” !! Blame “Colonisation” !!
It is Not Your ( Our ) Fault !!
Get it Through Your Black ( and White ) Heads !!
They are “Over-whelming” in their
“Determination and Commitment” to be seen to seen to be “Delivering an Outcome” !!
To justify their “Free and Easy” Education !?
And no doubt “Nice Wage” !?
And All under the heading of “Political Correctness” !!
Nothing Else.

“BACK-BREAKING RESEARCH” !!
with
“GROUND-BREAKING RESULTS” !!

These People need to
“Engage With Reality” and get a ”Real Job”
in the “Real World”
And “Get Out” of “Us Other Black-fellas Lives” !!
( Yawn ! )Not that they Ever Will !!
What a Life !!Who wants to give it up !?

“Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples”

"Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were involved in campaigning for, and drafting, the Declaration "

Commissioner Gooda said.

This is “ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT” !!

There is a lot of Public "Condemnation” and “Ridicule” of these so called, “Government Appointees” by the “Aboriginal Victim Industry” ( AVI ) "When it Suits them".

This does not seem to be the case with "Mick Gooda".

Or his predecessor, Tom Calma.

This "Declaration" was Showcased, Floated, Displayed, Lobbied for and "In Essence", "Flogged" !!

Mainly to the “Converted” or, fellow AVI.

The drafts of this “Declaration” would have been done by a lot of African, American and Asian Delegates. People that come from some Well Documented, Terrible Living Conditions. To a large extent,"These" are the People that the "Declaration" and Principles would have been Conceived, Agreed to and Produced for. "Not" with "Us" in mind. So it would Hardly be Likely that we could have made or had "Any Influence Whatsoever" !! This so called “Campaining" for, and "Drafting” of, was no more than a "AVI" PR Exercise !! There would have been "Nothing" that “Needed “ to be "Changed". Or "Altered" !!.They would have had everything covered !! Experts !! They had years to do it !! And with at least, some of the Best Brains "Out of Africa" !! The African Countries have never taken us seriously. Mandela, Tutu, name Any African Leader !! All the years that we have been going over to the UN complaining, “Not One” has ever backed or supported us. Or seen to be. And it is not likely to change. These people going over there complaining of Income Management, "Many hundreds of Millions" of people from these African Countries, and Others, don't even know what an Income is !! With “Ten Billion Dollars” a year “Allocated" to Aboriginal "Issues" and "Affairs”. That's more than the GNP of Most of these Countries !! These other “Delegates” or their Advisors, they would be aware of this !! Five Hundred dollars ( $500 ) a fortnight minimum here, to every Black-fella in Australia !!

This "New Set of Rules", this "Declaration", the “Aboriginal Elite” or, "Neo- Mission Managers”, are seeking to Force and to Impose it upon, not only us "Other Black-fellas", but the “Whole Country” !!

The "Aboriginal Elite" are seeking to “Hijack” the Aboriginal Agenda.

( First draft.edited. and, work in progress. Alb.)

For updates, WGAR News: "The Intervention is killing our people" - IRAG media release. 15/9 2011. Indymedia.

Or, www.whitc.info alb. 29/9/2011

( read and circulate )

“Aborigines the world’s greatest explorers” ( 26/9/2011 Indymedia )

Researchers looked at the hair sample, collected by British anthropologist Alfred Haddon during a train journey in the Western Australian outback, because they wanted to find someone of "100 per cent aboriginal descent"

"100 per cent aboriginal descent" !?.

If so,

What then is the “Legal Status” of People that claim Aboriginality ( and "All Benefits" ) but Technically or Geneticly (?) are, say for instance, "only" twenty ( 20 ) or five ( 5 ) per cent or less of “Aboriginal Descent” ?

People that are of “100 per cent Aboriginal descent” ,

What is "their" “Legal Status” or “Entitlements” in comparison ?

Do ( did ) "They" have any say in this issue ?

“If you're White you're Right.
If you're Brown Hang Round.
If you're Black get Back”.

This is a "Determining Factor" in "Aboriginal Society" !!

Check it out !!

It is a “very common” practice for “Fair” skinned Aboriginal People to “Denigrate, Demean” and to “Discriminate” against other “Aboriginal” People who are of “Lesser” European “Heritage”. I have traveled and lived in most of this Country and have observed it many many times.
As in many Aboriginal families, the “darkest” or more “Blacker” sibling is almost always nicknamed, “Blackie” !!

Colour is a very ( ongoing ) contentious issue in Aboriginal Societies. With people of “100 per cent Aboriginal descent” claiming and complaining, that “Yella” fellas or, “Fair" skinned People take "Un-Fair" ( ! ) advantage of benefits meant for “them”.

There are Aboriginal People that go overseas as Artists, dancers etc. some like “David Gulpilil” and “Yothu Yindi”, people that may be construed to be of “100 per cent Aboriginal descent” presenting and being presented as the “Aboriginal People of Australia”!!
Then there are other performers that go over there and when they perform ( dance ) they cover their very fair ( white ? ) skin and un-Aboriginal like features with white paint !! ( to look Aboriginal ? ) and say that “they” are the “Aboriginal People of Australia” !!

The People over there ( some “very” black ) then say, "Hang on", who the fuck “Are” the “Real” Aboriginal People of Australia !!??

There is no doubt that this issue of “Colour” or of “European Heritage” would have been a factor ( and still is ) in why “Black” African Countries don't take us seriously. They would have dealt with a similar issue Many Times over Many Years in their Own Country , …. to be continued alb. (Yawn !)

I'll throw something else in here, this "Sovereignty" would a person of "100 per cent Aboriginal Descent" be "More Sovereign" than someone who is 5 per cent ?
Who's "Status" would take "Precedence", from the point of view of someone of "100 per cent Aboriginal descent" !?
