Over 1000 people rallied to support Wikileaks in Sydney on Friday 10th December. Members of the crowd held signs declaring "Julian not Julia", "Supporting Assange not Terrorism" and "In Wikileaks we trust". There were chants of "We are all Julian Assange" as well as condemnation for the Australian government's bid to dismiss and silence Wikileaks with cries of "Shame, shame!"

Supporters of the website Wikileaks will mobilise on Friday to protest against the backlash it has faced for its release of more than 250,000 US government cables.

The protest will hear from independent journalist Antony Loewenstein, award-winning author of My Israel Question. Pirate Party spokesperson Simon Frew will also speak. Other speakers will be announced soon.

Greenpeace takes action against ANZ - Australia's dirtiest bank

Tuesday, 7 December - At 7.30am Greenpeace activists re-branded ANZ as Australia's dirtiest bank – right in front of its NSW HQ in Martin Place.

The activists scaled 12 metre flagpoles, hung our re-branded banner and shone a spotlight on the offending bank.

"ANZ claim to be sustainable, but in fact, it is the biggest financer of polluting power in Australia," said Greenpeace Campaigner John Hepburn. "We're helping ANZ begin a new era of honesty with its customers."
