Political Discussion started by folks from the Mutiny Zine Collective, loosely based on the questions:

What is the point of an anarchist publication in Sydney today?
What are the challenges of making a publication and getting it out there?
How can we make our publications more relevant to current struggles and what are some examples of successful publications we can look to, at home and abroad?

Political Discussions will continue at black rose every 2nd Thursday, each with another local collective starting discussion around issues that are important to them.

WAAC has organised a national day of action to show solidarity with a young Queensland couple who go to trial on October 12, charged under archaic abortion laws that have been in place since 1899 - an abortion law which is almost identical to that still in place in New South Wales.

Many before us have fought for the right to choose abortion, and continue to fight for the repeal of all abortion laws to recognise that abortion is not a crime. Our rights are under attack an it's time to stand up and defend them so come along and join us.

Pirate protest: Forbes global CEO conference!

A group of "anti-corporate pirates" protested outside the Forbes global CEO's conference at the luxury Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney on Sepetember 29, 2010. Corporate pirates were plundering and destroying the earth and exploiting the world's majority, said Pirate Paul Benedek. "They are giving us grassroots pirates a bad name!"

Child Safety: Problems and Solutions

1. Bureaucracy
Child protection departments are run separately in each of the eight states of Australia. This protects the federal government from accepting any responsibility for the corruption and malpractice which is pervading the departments of child safety in every state.

These heinous entities are answerable to no one. Not only are they a black spot on the federal government bureaucracy, these departments who are nothing less than modern day Nazi Storm Troopers, are hidden and protected by the state governments they are empowered by.

On Tuesday night there will be a solidarity gathering for Josefa Rauluni, who took his own life on Monday morning, as well as the detainees currently protesting on roof in Villawood. One of Josefa's relatives, also a detainee in Villawood, was placed in isolation and had his mobile phone confiscated. The solidarity gathering will be at the hub in Newtown from 6pm
