13 Aug 13: "Rosalie Kunoth was born in 1937 at Utopia Cattle Station (Arapunya) in the Northern Territory of Australia to parents of the Amatjere people. ... In August of that year [2011] she went to Canberra for Amnesty International and denounced Federal government intervention in the Northern Territory as a "huge violation of human rights," displacing "more indigenous people from their traditional lands, depriving them of opportunities to speak their native language and severing links with [their] culture. ... "

"The members of the Land Council find it unacceptable that policy affecting them may be dictated by somebody who doesn’t understand the issues affecting them.
"Unfortunately Mr Mundine seems to be unaware of the significant changes made in recent years and he needs to update his knowledge of the current situation in the Northern Territory," Mr Ryan said.
Mr Ryan said Mr Mundine’s four fundamental principles of governance, land ownership, social stability and openness provide nothing new.

23 Aug 13: "ON 23 AUGUST 1966, the Gurindji people walked off the job at Wave Hill Station in the Northern Territory in protest over low wages, bad work conditions and the dispossession of their land. ... The 250 men, women and children were led by Vincent Lingiari, a community elder and head stockman at the 26,975sq.km cattle station 600km south of Darwin in the Northern Territory.
