Australia must break its silence on Gaza

Dear friends,
I write to you with deep sadness about the situation in Gaza. I have received many inquiries about what the Greens are doing in response to the Israeli invasion.

Last night, I watched a very powerful clip from British Channel 4’s Jon Snow about his recent trip to Gaza. He speaks movingly about what is happening to the children of Gaza. Over 1310 children have been injured and over 166 have been killed.

14 skulls handed to traditional owners in Berlin

One of Europe’s largest university clinics, the 300-year-old Charité in Berlin, Germany, has just returned 14 skulls of Aboriginal people to representatives of the Goemulgal, Lag Mabuyag and Wajarri Yamatji peoples.

Already in April last year the Charité returned skulls and other bones of 33 Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders the Institution had received at the end of the 19th century. That was the first repatriation of its kind of ancestral remains from Germany.

Warrants are sought for the arrest of Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison, George Brandis and others

From: "Ray Jackson"

as previously advised, isja had intended to do a view of the current human rights abuses and abrogations and the federal government's fully sanctioned criminal acts against the legitimate right of asylum seekers to come to this country. they are not 'boat people' or 'illegals', their legitimacy or otherwise must be decided only by standards of the un declaration on refugees of which australia has been a long time signatory.

instead we pass on the detailed application to show cause below and urge your full support in this action.

99-Year Township Leases

Yolngu Nations Assembly (YNA) urges the Commonwealth Government and indigenous communities to consult carefully before considering entering into 99-year township leases.

In October last year, Senator Nigel Scullion announced that Gunbalanya traditional owners had agreed to work towards finalising a 99-year lease by 30 June 2014, stating that he and the traditional owners “agreed that a township lease was the most effective way to achieve economic and commercial development in Gunbalanya.”

1 million prize for global water shortage solution

The ruler of Dubai and vice president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoumhas, has offered $1 million USD to the research institute that comes up with an effective solution to the global water shortage problem.

But on one condition — the solution must involve solar energy. All institutions are eligible for the prize, not just those located in the UAE.

Singapore - The Necropolis City of Hangings

Singapore hanged two prisoners on July 18, 2014. Foong Chee Peng, 48, and Tang Hai Liang, 36, were hanged at dawn inside Singapore's Changi Prison.

The hangings were reported by the Singapore media and all worldwide media - excluding Australia (in the slight chance Australia would be seen to upset the tiny island nation of five million people).

Both men were convicted of drug-trafficking. Tang was found to have trafficked 89.55g of diamorphine and Foong was found to have trafficked 40.23g of diamorphine.
