Speakout: Free Marian Price - British consulate, Brisbane - 12.30 - Thursday, 22 March 2012

Date and Time:
Thu, 22/03/2012 -
12:30pm to 2:00pm
Location:
British Consulate, 1 Eagle St, Brisbane Brisbane Speakout: Free Marian Price Thursday March 22, 12:30pm Outside British Consulate 1 Eagle St, Brisbane Since May 15, 2011, Marian Price has been illegally incarcerated by the British in the north of Ireland. She was held for nine months in solitary confinement in the all-male Maghaberry prison before being moved to Hydebank women's prison hospital due to frail health. In 1973, Marian was imprisoned for seven years by the British and tortured as a political prisoner and is facing the same kind of torture now. She was arrested last year after holding a piece of paper for a masked man at an annual Easter Rising commemoration in Derry. The judge granted her bail on that charge. Then, a few days later the unelected British Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Owen Paterson revoked her release from prison on so-called "license". So called because in fact Marian received a Royal Prerogative of Mercy after her release from prison in 1980 (in other words, a pardon). Conveniently, this original pardon document is believed to have been shredded. Marian is 57-years old and suffering from various health conditions that she developed as a consequence of her years as a political prisoner - which are being exacerbated dangerously by the torture she is again facing. BRING JULIAN ASSANGE HOME!'

STANDBY ALERT to RALLY

Across Australia and around the world at Australian Embassies.

Stating that a decision on Julian Assange's extradition will likely be issue in the next 6 days, Julian's mother, Christine Assange is calling on Australians to get ready for snap rally's across the country, as the decision should come down between March 6 - 14th 2012

This is close to home. When someone is dragged from the pack. We go back for them. It is expected that the appeal outcome to extradite Julian Assange to Sweden will be announced between March 6 - 14.

Violence breeds violence, police brutality is just not on, shouldn't be!

Some call for police to stop investigating police, others call for just common decency, when will police be brought into line with the rest of us, and for their sakes too, in being held accountable for behaviour that just makes it too difficult for us to trust in each other?
