To get the justice done, the splintered, shard-like "left" needs to coalesce

Gerry Georgatos

The compassionate left wing screams for social justice and argues for our governments and society's institutions to have a heart and help people from the bottom end up, and to desist with the proposition that they can achieve for the downtrodden by working from the top end of town and down.

The bona fide left wing is fractious and forever splintering and yet it calls out for groundswells of people power to coalesce in mass social movements which will give rise to cultural waves.

Anarchist intervention against the 150 year celebration of the NSW Police Force

At around 10am on March 1st, shortly before the police began their official ‘Sea of Blue’ anniversary march from the Rocks to the Sydney Town Hall, a group of anarchists dropped a banner reading “PIG BRUVA IS WATCHING, COMMUNITY NOT SURVEILLANCE CULTURE” from the Cahill Expressway bridge. The banner was hung directly above the George St march route while 750 pigs were gathered only two blocks away at the Rocks Police station.

No-one in government cares enough about Aboriginal peoples

No-one in government cares enough about Aboriginal peoples

Gerry Georgatos

Well placed sources, including parliamentarians, in the Australian Labor Party, the Coalition, and the Greens have made surprising comments that issues afflicting Aboriginal peoples and 'Aboriginal affairs' are in the 'too hard basket' or 'best swept under the carpet'.

Stolen wages remain stolen

Gerry Georgatos

The Stolen Wages campaigns are struggling in the finding of justice for families of those long gone and for those with little time left on this earth.

From WA, Yamatji Phil Moncrief said, "(These are) simple cut and dried cases. A social justice run up the mountain of corruption is what it is - it does not get much easier than to get the justice done here." However, the Stolen wages remain stolen for far too many people, their families and/or their descendants.

Assange appeals extradition in court today: Brisbane solidarity vigil

Today Julian Assange faces court again to appeal the order to extradite him to Sweden. If his appeal fails he will face court in Sweden within a fortnight.

This is Assanges tenth court appearance since his arrest for questioning in relation to sex crimes in Sweden, over a year ago. Assange has maintained that the charges are politically motivated by Wikileaks release of secret US government documents and video, particularly that that show US military engaged in war crimes.
