Jan 15th Brisbane vigil marks 20th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War

On Sunday, despite the floods, a small group gathered in Brisbane to mark the 20th anniversary of first US led attack on Iraq. We joined others around the world gathering at the same time.

We remembered all those killed in the wars Australia has supported since then, especially those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I started with an overview of the wars in those countries. I mentioned Pope John Paul 11’s strong opposition to the first Gulf War, when he prophetically called it the “Seed of death”. The war helped spark a never ending spiral of violence- “war-terror-war-terror-war……..”

Peter Gray an anti-war activist should be congratulated on first verbally confronting John Howard the war criminal over his decision to send Australian troops to the illegal invasion of Iraq and then throwing his shoes at him - live on television, on the ABC's Q & A show.

Wikileaks reveals more U.S. war crimes

At 5pm EST Friday 22nd October 2010 WikiLeaks released the largest classified military leak in history. The 391,832 reports ('The Iraq War Logs'), document the war and occupation in Iraq, from 1st January 2004 to 31st December 2009 (except for the months of May 2004 and March 2009) as told by soldiers in the United States Army. Each is a 'SIGACT' or Significant Action in the war. They detail events as seen and heard by the US military troops on the ground in Iraq and are the first real glimpse into the secret history of the war that the United States government has been privy to throughout.

Australian Wikileaks founder targeted by the Pentagon

Since June 7th , U.S. Army Private Bradley Manning, has been in custody in Kuwait as he is investigated for releasing the footage of U.S. state terror in Iraq to Wikileaks entitled Collateral Murder . The Pentagon now apparently wants to find and question Australian Wikileaks founder Julian Asange over this and other documents Wikileaks may have. This is an outrageous attempt by the U.S.
