Bob Carr ignoring human rights abuses in Sri Lanka

Why does the Foreign minister continually try to play down blatant abuses in Sri Lanka?

Is it related to the Gillard government's contoversial policy on Sri Lankan asylum seekers.

Why does Foreign Minister Bob Carr keep making excuses for the government of Sri Lanka?

There is strong evidence from credible organisations that serious human rights abuses are continuing in Sri Lanka, despite the “end of the civil war”.

But every time Bob Carr is asked about the situation there he pretends there are no problems and says things are improving.

The Prime Minister believes she will win September 14

Every poll nationwide portrays either a decisive or catastrophic defeat for the Australian Labor Party come September. Australia’s Aboriginal children detained at the world’s highest rates

By Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The Stringer - http://thestringer.com.au/

In the United States, the Annie Casey Foundation’s report ‘No Place for Kids: The Case for Reducing Juvenile Incarceration,’ has an assembly of juvenile crime statistics that evidence why locking up children does not work. ALP fails the poor again

A report released today by Anglicare Australia has found it is becoming almost impossible for people on welfare to afford to rent a home.

The welfare group surveyed more than 56,000 rental properties across the country and found less than 1 per cent of those properties were affordable for people on government benefits such as Newstart, parenting payments, the aged pension or disability support pensions.

The Ration Shed Museum
"When our Elders were moved off the land and taken to
Cherbourg they were cut off from their traditional sources
of food and were given weekly rations of mainly flour,
sugar, tea, sago, rice, split peas and meat. The rations
were given from a wooden shed which we have restored
and call The Ration Shed Museum. We use the Ration
Shed as a space to tell our stories."
