(A-Radio) Interview: Capitalism and the changes in the UK legal aid system

As Anarchist Radio Berlin we talked with an UK-based prisoner support activist about capitalism and recent changes in judicial law. This concerns especially legal aids and the introduction of so-called "court costs", showing clearly an ever more class-based judicial system.

Force the States and Territories to means-test fines!

A fine is a weapon of class warfare. For a rich person, a fine may represent minutes of earnings or savings. For a poor person, it represents days of earnings and weeks or months of savings. Thus the poor are punished more harshly for the same alleged offence. That's the idea.

Sea Shepherd sues Japanese whalers for Piracy in Dutch Court

Sea Shepherd lodged on Friday writs to sue the crew of Japanese whaling ship Shonan Maru 2 for piracy in the Dutch court system for threatening the lives of the six crew members of the Ady Gil and destroying their vessel. Same-sex pensioners set to suffer under law reform

Homosexual Law Reform proposed by the Rudd Government to end discriminatory practices with regard to pensions still has a long way to go according to Mannie De Saxe of Melbourne Lesbian and Gay Solidarity.

According to Mannie "the Federal Government is about to inflict a new method of elder abuse on the Gay Lesbian Transgender and HIV/AIDS communities, particularly those least able to defend themselves against this new form of discrimination, homophobia and other forms of abuse by targeting same-sex aged, disabled and other disadvantaged most vulnerable people."
