Resistance RMIT club presents: Gasland

US film-maker Josh Fox discovered that in the race for 'cleaner' energy sources, the largest natural gas drilling boom in history is sweeping the globe. As the citizens of Gasland testify, the multi-million dollar business of fracking has contaminated the water supply, the corporate giants are covering up and the government has turned a blind eye. The film is a desperate plea for scrutiny of a powerful industry that has turned its eyes on unexplored territory: Australia.

Wednesday, May 9, 12:30pm.

Statement read out on the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court steps by one of the Boycott Israel 19

Statement read by Jerome Small - one of the Defend the Boycott Israel 19 on May 1st outside the Melbourne Magistrates Court, on the first day of their trial.

Our first task is to acknowledge that where we are standing right now is stolen land, and that the Wurundjeri people and the Kulin nations have never surrendered this land, nor given up their sovereignty.

Our next task is to acknowledge the colossal, life and death struggle being waged as we speak by Palestinian prisoners inside the jails of Apartheid Israel.

Vigil against the Afghanistan War

Date and Time:
Tue, 08/05/2012 -
4:30pm to 6:30pm
Location:
Parliament railway station, Melbourne Spring Street,

Is Australia withdrawing from the Afghanistan war - well lets take it from the Defence Minister "It depends what you mean by withdrawing" (see: http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2012/s3478614.htm). It seems clear that our military involvement is looking at continuing for quite some time yet.

So lets keep the message strong - lets stop the WAR. When we mean WITHRDAW - we really mean withdraw.

Look forward to seeing you at this event as we keep building our resistance to this war without end!
