Feminism, football and one teenage girl's attempts to “fight the power”

The teenage girl at the centre of the St Kilda football club sex and photos scandal is emerging as an unlikely feminist warrior in our supposedly “post-feminist” world. This young girl is bravely refusing to accept the labels of “slut” or “victim” and is instead ferociously trying to hold the St Kilda football club and the AFL to account in footballer's treatment of young women. Most importantly, she is refusing to be silenced. Her latest efforts included crashing a St Kilda club training session , putting up posters and handing out fliers including one proclaiming “Fight the Power”.

Despite having committed no crime, Julian Assange is still under house arrest in Britain despite being released on bail. World leaders continue to call for his prosecution or even assassination, with US vice-President Joe Biden labelling Assange a “cyber-terrorist”.

Bradley Manning, the soldier who leaked US military documents and footage, continues to languish in prison and is facing a jail sentence of up to 52 years. Assange faces an initial extradition hearing on 11 Jan, and a further hearing on February 7 and 8.

The protests against this attack on free speech must continue.

Our Generation is their untold story; of a struggle hidden from the eyes of mainstream Austral...ia. A rollercoaster journey into the heart of Australia's Indigenous relations, a hidden shame that is pushing the world's oldest living culture to the edge.

How many people have been abused? How many rapes and sexual abuses have been covered up last year because the rapist was a Scientologist?
