On 9 November, Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, announced an “expert panel” will be set up to “lead a national discussion and broad consultation” around plans for a referendum to recognise Aboriginal Australians in the Constitution. How can the Aboriginal rights movement make sure the result is a step forward? The Freedom Socialist Party will decide what we think. We welcome supporters and guests to join in this discussion.

The meeting will also feature a special screening of Jess Sundin, Minneapolis Activist Targeted by the FBI, talking about the morning her home was raided by the FBI. She’ll discuss the emergence of a movement determined to stop these witchhunts. In December, the FBI delivered 9 new subpoenas in Chicago to anti-war and Palestine solidarity activists, bringing the number subpoenaed to 23. The 9 have been ordered to appear at a Grand Jury in Chicago on January 25. The Committee to Stop FBI Repression is calling for protests across the U.S. and around the world to show our solidarity. Come and find out more and show your support.

Dinner at 6:30 pm for an $8 donation, meeting at 7 pm.

Solidarity Salon, 580 Sydney Road, Brunswick
