Climate Commission comes to Melbourne - climate risks for Victoria

I attended the Climate Commission public forum in Melbourne last Tuesday night with my daughter. I felt that it was important that she came along to see the charts on the screen, to hear from the Climate Commissioners and climate scientists directly, and perhaps question them about her future. Because global warming will have an increasing impact on the climate of the future, and the life of the kids of today, and eventually their children and future generations.

Beyond Zero Emissions is challenging the excuses for inaction with a new report that makes the case for Australian leadership on climate change. The report:
highlights the true extent of Australia’s influence over global emissions;
demonstrates how the practical, problem-solving approach to sectoral decarbonisation advocated in the BZE Zero Carbon Australia Plans can be leveraged by Australia to achieve major emissions reductions globally while the UN negotiations remain deadlocked; and

Police cut ties with Trades Hall because of a forum attended by more than 100 on the topic of Police Brutality and Racism

Among the speakers were Flemington and Kensington Community Legal Centre lawyer Tamar Hopkins, Aboriginal activist Robbie Thorpe, journalist and researcher into Australian deaths in custody Gerry Georgatos and anti-racism activist Louisa Bassini - these four were invited as speakers on the topic of police brutality and racism however none of them belong to the political group or affiliated to it that coordinated the event. More than one people came to listen to them.
