A young Australian features at an international Symposium

Just before he took off for New Tork, I caught up briefly with Tim Wright, a young Australian who is making an impact on the world scene, as he travels internationally promoting the cause of nuclear disarmament. Tim has been a leading light in the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) , since 2006, and is ICAN Australia's campaign director.

Fight for our rights on 4 March

Our rights at work are again under attack from the Abbott Government and employers.

Just last month, it became even clearer that the full-scale Productivity Commission inquiry into our rights at work could deliver cuts to penalty rates, the abolition of the minimum wage, bring back unfair individual contracts and swing even more power to the employers.

The time to stand up and fight back is now.

Farewell noble friends at The National Indigenous Times

Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The National Indigenous Times - Sadly, I fear this is the last time I will be writing for The National Indigenous Times. This newspaper goes out of business, bundled out by litigation but as the noblest voice for First Peoples in the nation. We did not fade but were persecuted by malice because we chased down transgressors and transgressions in ways other media feared.

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) welcomes the long-awaited release of the Australian Human Rights Commission’s report, The Forgotten Children, from its Inquiry into Children in Detention, and looks forward to the Government’s response.

The APS calls for all children in immigration detention to be released immediately, including those on Nauru, which the report makes clear is a particularly harmful environment.
