Martu’s Ernie Ifould calls for Royal Commission

Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The National Indigenous Times - http://nit.com.au/ - The Martu peoples of the Western Desert languish impoverished while the millions of dollars that have allegedly never reached them are being brought to the attention of the nation through Fairfax journalists, Richard Baker and Nick McKenzie. Some of the Martu are calling for a Royal Commission into native title following highly publicised questions raised in the media around a large amount of allegedly missing money.

Freedom of Speech

By Gerry Georgatos - June 19th, 2014 - courtesy of The Stringer - http://thestringer.com.au/ - The ABC promotes itself as ‘democracy’ and the ABC’s Q&A program as “an experiment in democracy” but after its host, Tony Jones’ response to students who unfurled a banner during the program there were observers who questioned the ‘democracy’ that the program touts. Freelance writer and journalist, Clementine Ford defended the democratic right of the students to assemble and protest but which Mr Jones admonished.

The Lorax series on the Scarcity Wars – 1. Sand

By Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The Stringer - http://thestringer.com.au/ - May 18th, 2014
Human greed is ravaging the earth, wiping out billions and millions of years-old-management systems, making extinct millions of species, forever changing the world’s landscape. Rapacious greed for the urbanisation of the planet is unsettling the earth to the point that alarmists have justification in arguing a future tumult of scarcity wars, never-before-seen ‘natural’ disasters, civil strife and the loss of human life not just in the millions but in the billions.

Be prepared for ruin when blowing the whistle on corruption.

Some of these names – of whistleblowers – will mean little to you, they may not ring any bells, because the mainstream press in general has failed to adequately highlight corrupt transgressions and their transgressors and in the sustained ways that true journalism should chase down the justice. Mine deal allegations expose the watchdogs and the brokers – time for a must-do Royal Commission into National Native Title Tribunal

Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The National Indigenous Times - A Royal Commission into the operations of the National Native Tribunal and in the way Native Title is managed in general is the only way according to NNTT insiders and by two former Western Desert Lands Aboriginal Corporation members to properly address explosive allegations of dealings in a Native Title determination for the Martu Peoples of Western Australia.

Rape - global crisis, from India to the United States

Gerry Georgatos - 6.6.2014 - Rape and sexual violations are endemic crises - rife - yet unchecked by substantive education. We meander towards more checks as we unfold human rights and social justice vocabularies to catch up with one and all. In the meantime the human narrative is traumatised by one atrocity after another, and the multiple traumas from the permissibility of atrocity. Two cousins, aged 12 and 14 years were raped and then hanged last week in India. Yesterday, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur described rape as a ‘social crime’.

Six homeless children fighting for a better tomorrow

By Gerry Georgatos - courtesy of The Stringer - http://thestringer.com.au/six-homeless-children-fighting-for-a-better-to... - The remote is an idea romanced by Governments when it comes to tourism but when remote communities ask for quality schools, utilities and services, Governments cold shoulder them.

Suggested cuts to government funding could kill community radios

Our community radio stations are at serious risk.

The Commission of Audit last week recommended that funding for the Community Broadcasting Program be scrapped.

The Government is set to hand down its Federal Budget on Tuesday. If the Government adopts the Commission of Audit’s recommendation in the budget, we could see community radio stations across the country forced off air.

Will you help protect our community radio stations by emailing the Treasurer now?

Government racism razes Swan Valley Nyungah Community

by Gerry Georgatos - March 18th, 2014 - http://thestringer.com.au/ In breaking news, the Western Australian State Government sent in demolition contractors to raze the vacant residences of the Swan Valley Nyungah Community. Emotions ran high among former residents, many of whom remain homeless. They only learned of the demolition as it was happening such was the clandestine nature of the Government’s underhandedness.
