John Pilger's documentary film, 'Utopia'
Venue: Theatrette at Burrunju Gallery (at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre)
"Reservations essential: no drop-ins please as each seat will be allocated by rsvp."
"When I began filming this secret Australia 30 years ago,
a global campaign was under way to end apartheid in South Africa.

liberals. Yet no international opprobrium, no boycotts, disturbed
the surface of "lucky" Australia." John Pilger, Guardian

Updated Event: Thu 6 February 2014: ANU, Canberra, ACT
Book launch: 'In the Absence of Treaty'
Edited by Michele Harris
Publisher: 'concerned Australians'
Speakers:
* Graeme Mundine, Indigenous Catholic leader, Bundjalung Nation
* John Falzon, National CEO St Vincent de Paul Society
Venue: The Co-op Bookshop ANU
"This book defines how, through changes to legislation
and by engaging Aboriginal peoples in decision-making
without access to independent advice, control is slipping
away from them. ... For anyone wanting to explore
more deeply the reasons for the ongoing and growing
frustration of many Aboriginal people in the NT, this book
provides a concise, but incisive account from recent
reports. In doing this it hints at possibly the only solution
- treaties."
