105.7 ABC Darwin: How an Arnhem family turned their sister's death into an Indigenous youth suicide prevention group
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-14/indigenous-youth-suicide-preventio...
15 May 15: "When Dhayirra Yunupingu's sister died by suicide, it plunged his family into "a pothole that is filled with rubbish". "We couldn't breathe to come out and get fresh air. It was pushing us down all the time," he said. "Finally, at the end, we had to come up, get fresh air and work with other people around us." As part of their resurfacing, the family launched a suicide prevention group for Indigenous youth. Galupa Marngarr is named after the traditional word for the Yunupingu's home, Ski Beach on the Northern Territory's Gove Peninsula, and is led by Mr Yunupingu and his sister, Gayili Marika. ... Who am I?
http://www.creativespirits.info/about/#toc4
"I am a curious and creative person of Australian-German descent. This site is home to my various creative activities including writing, photography and poetry. It’s main focus is now Aboriginal culture. This site is not about me. It’s about things you can explore and learn about. I hope you enjoy this website. If you feel you should tell me something, just drop me an email to the address provided below. Be curious. Always. It’s a spice of life. Cheers, Jens" Jens Korff
How Creative Spirits started
http://www.creativespirits.info/about/#toc0
"I’ve always been interested in Aboriginal culture and started Creative Spirits to document my travels through Western Australia, recommending Aboriginal points of interest along the way. Soon I listed Aboriginal resources such as DVDs and CDs I owned or had heard about. Learning more and more about Aboriginal culture, I wanted to share what I’d read, so in 2006 I added the Aboriginal culture section. Traffic rose slowly but constantly, and today this is the most visited area of my site. Many students and teachers have a huge thirst to learn about First Nations People from in-depth quality information. That is what I aim for with Creative Spirits." Jens Korff

The Stringer: Truth, not lies, on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander suicide rates
http://thestringer.com.au/truth-not-lies-on-aboriginal-andor-torres-stra...
16 May 15: " ... The contributing factors need to be understood, they vary demographically and from people to people - culturally and ‘racially’. ... for Australia’s First Peoples the contributing factors are markedly different - they are linked to extreme poverty and disadvantage from the beginning of life, intergenerational trauma, cultural identity, racialisation and racism. Often alcohol and substance abuse are considered by many as underlying causes but these are not underlying causes and rather they are at best contributing factors borne symptomatically of the above. ... " By Gerry Georgatos, a life-long human rights and social justice campaigner, a multi-award winning investigative journalist
Gerry Georgatos - The Stringer
http://thestringer.com.au/gerry-georgatos-contributing-editor-and-journa...
" ... Gerry Georgatos’ campaigns in recent years in highlighting the extensiveness of the suicide crises globally, nationally and among First Peoples in countries with relatively recent colonial oppressor histories are second to none. He has become the most voluminous writer in the nation on the extensiveness of suicide and on the immediate ways forward. The Stringer, The National Indigenous Times and The National Indigenous Radio Services, collectively, have published more than 200 contributions by Georgatos in the last 18 months alone. ... "
The Stringer's Editorial policy:
http://thestringer.com.au/about-us
"Independent news media contributes to the unfolding landscape of human rights and social justice. It is The Stringer’s aim to provide every opportunity to the rise of voices that far too often are denied. If The Stringer believes in the importance of a story we will sustain coverage - this is what The Stringer terms through-care journalism. The Stringer has become known for breaking stories that others initially were not prepared to investigate and report. The Stringer’s contributors are experts in their fields, ... "
