Event: Sun 16 March 2014 2pm: Canberra, ACT
John Pilger's documentary film, 'Utopia'
The Arc Cinema, NFSA's Acton headquarters
"When I began filming this secret Australia 30 years ago,
a global campaign was under way to end apartheid in South Africa.
Having reported from South Africa, I was struck by the similarity
of white supremacy and the compliance and defensiveness of
liberals. Yet no international opprobrium, no boycotts, disturbed
the surface of "lucky" Australia." John Pilger, Guardian

Christian missions before World War Two
Presented by: Tim Rowse
CAEPR Seminar

in current discussions of Indigenous development:
in anthropological considerations of Indigenous regimes

'passive welfare, for example. It will also inform this paper's
narrative of the formation of Christian missions to remote
Aborigines in the period 1890-1940."

Presented by: Janet Hunt
CAEPR Seminar
Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research
Australian National University
"Trends in public service reform, especially the 2010
Declaration of Open Government, encourage a ‘culture
of engagement’ and collaboration with citizens. Since

Indigenous people by various jurisdictions, but
Indigenous people frequently express frustration with
how governments engage with them, and
‘consultation fatigue’ is a common outcome. ... "

First Australians - Resistance
