17 Apr 13: "Goolarabooloo is very happy to inform you that we have finally had a briefing from our Lawyers and they have said "WE HAVE WON AND IT IS OVER - THE PROJECT IS DEAD". ... The Goolarabooloo and the Broome Community would like to express that these sacred and highly significant areas north of Broome will always be protected by us ... The lesson is there to be learn't, where we have areas of great significance and great concerns this needs to be understood and accepted by the government before pressuring commercial development to use these areas."

Respect and Listen: NIT - A Kimberley victory - Issue 307 Vol 12 - 17 April 2013
http://www.respectandlisten.org/kimberley/news.html
17 Apr 13: " ... incredible strength of character and determination of Traditional Owners such as the Roe and Hunter families and all the Goolarabooloo and Jabirr Jabirr peoples who stood ... in opposition to the project. In the years to come we hope the rest of Australia comes to acknowledge the sacrifices these people have made opposing this gas hub project. We believe their courage, their sacrifices, their amazing fortitude to be a shining example of what it means to protect Country. ... It is sadly ironic the "compensation" proposed was to provide the basic services any other community and certainly what EVERY white community receives from government anyway ... "

Greens Senator Rachel Siewert: Barnett can’t walk away from important Kimberley investments
http://rachel-siewert.greensmps.org.au/content/media-releases/barnett-ca...
13 Apr 13: "The Australian Greens said today that WA Premier Colin Barnett cannot walk away from investing in Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley simply because of Woodside’s decision to cancel development the James Price Point LNG precinct.
"The Greens have been staunch opponents of this proposed gas hub and the fact that it was tied so closely to the provision of better services and supports for Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley," Senator Siewert said today.
"We completely agree that communities in the Kimberley need strong investment and support, but we have maintained that support should not be made conditional on external factors such as resource development. ... " [said Senator Siewert] "

Instead, Woodside announced on Friday that the James Price Point gas hub proposal was too expensive, saying it would not look at developing it for several years. We're happy to have been part of the campaign every step of the way. Here's a little bit about what we've fought together to save:
James Price Point is a spectacular part of the Kimberley.
It is home to a large number of threatened and endangered species, a whale nursery and the world's largest dinosaur footprints. It is also the only place in the world where Aboriginal culture incorporates the remnants of dinosaurs. Its cultural and heritage value for Aboriginal people is unique and significant. ... "
