Thousands of people around Australia came out on Palm Sunday, and Melbourne saw one of the biggest gatherings in support of refugee rights in a decade.

Building on the momentum of the Walk for Justice on Palm Sunday, we are planning a World Refugee Day March on Sunday 22nd June, 1:30pm at the City Square.

Amongst other things, this gathering will call for the closure of the detention centres on Manus Island and Nauru; fair and timely processing of all claims for asylum and justice for Reza Berati!

People with Disabilities have been left behind far too long. Now more than ever we need to stand together and say we need our pensions protected, our health care protected, we deserve the supports to participate in society, to afford to live independently and dare I say it HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE PAID EMPLOYMENT and not be judged. Now the Coalition want to slow our pension increases to CPI rather than wage increases, destroy Medicare by charging us $7 GP tax, pathology, hospital emergency fees and it will only get worse.

The topic of last months debate was Everything's Fine. It was a draw. The audience made equal noise for and against the notion that Everything is Fine, giving me no resolve and I remain in a confused state of panic in not knowing.

There is so much I just don't understand.

"The Joint Strike Fighter brings persistent stealth over the battlefield for the first time, and will enhance the lethality and survivability of American and allied combat, air, sea and ground forces." Gen John Jumper USAF Chief of Staff.....sounds cool .but what about Give Peace a Chance, that was cool wasn't it

Tony Abbott's Liberal government has just released a Federal budget that will price working class and poor kids out of access to higher education by allowing an unlimited increase in university fees. The budget will also see scholarships for low SES students cut and the start up scholarship, which are accessed by students on welfare, are to be converted in loans - this will mean the debt for a university degree will be higher for a working class kid then a rich kid. To exacerbate that government want to charge commercial interest rates on HECS debt.

RTBU protest against Yarra Trams sackings

Recently Yarra Trams' management has taken an extremely hard line approach in sacking workers in our tram industry. These bloody minded, unnecessary and unwarranted sackings have left these members and their families devastated and struggling financially.

Enough is enough - trammies are angry and disgusted with Yarra Trams senior management. It's time to make a stand.
