The Aboriginal Political Party (APP)
has been born in South Australia and it
has based its first principle on fighting
injustice.

Leading the way are APP executive
officers, Kaurna Elder, Lynette Crocker and
Dr Dylan Coleman, the 2011 recipient of
the Queensland Premier’s David Unaipon
Indigenous Literary Award.

On February 19, the 176th South Australian
Letters Patent commemoration was held by
the APP.

The Traditional Owners of the Arkaroola sanctuary in South Australia's northern Flinders ranges are now able to rest easy with a new law banning miners from the region. Late into the night on February 28 the South Australian Upper House passed legislation that will ensure protection of the environmentally sensitive lands.

"Parents bury their children, and the whole community grieves for yet another young life lost.
These deaths are slowly tearing us apart," said Adelaide Elder Tauto Sansbury.

Earlier this year, the news media highlighted the tragedy of 8 Aboriginal deaths in 13 days in Adelaide, most of them children - from January 1 to January 13.
