Julia Gillard and the 'Slush Fund' - Royal Commission or Bust

Lawyer claims discrepancy in PM's slush fund explanation

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-11-22/lawyer-claims-discrepancy-in-pm-sl...

A lawyer who worked with Prime Minister Julia Gillard in the 1990s says there is a two-and-a-half-year discrepancy in her explanation of when she knew about a loan for a house she lived in.

The property in question, on Kerr Street in Fitzroy, was allegedly paid for in part by funds taken from a union slush fund Ms Gillard helped set up.

Theatrical Documentary: Beautiful One Day
"Beautiful One Day is a theatrical documentary
about the irrepressible life and times of Palm
Island. Three theatre companies (Belvoir,
Ilbijerri, and version 1.0) came together in 2011
over a shared sense of outrage at the injustices
surrounding a death in custody in 2004. But,
prompted by the Palm Island community,
Beautiful One Day looks for a way to turn outrage
into real understanding and new possibilities.

Sydney councils back West Papua

Two Sydney councils have decided to raise the banned “Morning Star” flag to commemorate the national day of West Papua.

Marrickville Council and Leichhardt Council will both hoist the West Papuan flag on their town halls on Friday November 30.

The actual West Papuan Flag Day is on December 1st and is often a time of great tension in Papua.

Indonesian forces regularly crackdown on anyone raising the Morning Star flag on December 1st.

Barry O'Farrell has been asked to open the Francis Bacon exhibition on November 16th. The NSW Government has singled out TAFE fine arts courses to be 'commercialised' by January 2013, one full year ahead of introducing this approach across TAFE. Effectively it will mean 30 art colleges, 4000 students and over 200 artist teachers will see the closure of TAFE art schools as few will be able to attract the numbers of students in the next month to be viable.
