Demonstrations for Julian Assange in Townsville

Date and Time:
Thursday, May 31, 2012 -
4:30pm to 6:30pm
Ewan Jones' Office, Cnr of Ross River Road and Nathan St. Opp. Stockland, Townsville, QLD

Julian is facing imminent extradition to Sweden. The response from the U.K Supreme Court will be handed down on Wednesday the 30th of May 2012 see here:

We're asking Townsville residents to stand-by to protest at Ewan Jones' office. It is likely we will hear a decision at 8pm local time, in which case we would need to co-ordinate our protest with those Around the World at the offices of DFAT.

This Protest is for Thursday the 31st of May, to follow the Supreme Court Decision regardless of the outcome. We must keep the pressure up to prevent his extradition to the U.S to face a secret trial by grand jusry on trumped-up espionage charges.

The time will be from 4.30pm-6pm, it's just not feasible for a city of our size to hold two protests on a working day.

For those that can, prepare banners and signs now. We'll have a flier up soon to give to friends and family. We recognize that there are currently several movements with different political and social objectives active in Townsville, we respect the need for those movements but we ask that everyone coming to this event do so with the intention of supporting Julian Assange.

Our Government has failed him, we will hold them to account by encouraging others to vote for the Greens or an Independent come election time. If they won't stand up for Julian, they won't stand up for you!
