A nation shamed when the solution for its children is homelessness

They have been living in a single tent in bush on the northern outskirts of Perth. Four beautiful girls are homeless but in their loving mother’s vigilant care. Their bastion of hope, all their hope, rests in the dignity of remaining united.

Last Friday, under the cover of Christmas, Eric Abetz launched a stealth attack on Australian workers by announcing a full scale inquiry into our rights at work. This inquiry, which will begin in the new year, is the next step in his plan to cut penalty rates, reintroduce widespread individual contracts, reduce wages and conditions, and make it harder to have a voice at work. That’s his Christmas present to us. But as we showed in 2014, by joining together, and fighting for what we believe in, we can protect the living standards of Australian workers and their families.

Honour Pakistan's children by getting every child into school

Dear friends, on 17 December 14 a band of men walked into a school in Pakistan and massacred more than 100 kids. These Taliban extremists see education as a threat and the best way to respond to their heinous crime is to meet their attack with a global call to get every child in school. Sign a petition. More than 100 CHILDREN! What kind of person does something like this? Someone who sees schools as a primary driver to keep young people from recruitment into a life of violence.

Ahead of their AGM, ANZ weren't banking on this

Yesterday 200 villagers from Kampong Speu protested outside ANZ's Cambodian headquarters in Phnom Penh.

They were demanding that the ANZ use the estimated $5 million in profits it made from funding Phnom Penh Sugar to make amends to affected communities. Phnom Penh Sugar is the company at the heart of grabbing their land and leaving them in dire poverty.

A DAY OF GREAT SHAME!
 
today is day of great shame for our police-controlled judicial system!
 
today is a day were legal fraud has been blatantly put on show in its most arrogant form!
 
today four nsw police were exonerated of the police-initiated death of the brazilian student, roberto laudisio curti!
 
the members of isja with honest grief apologise to the family of roberto for the complete and utter lack of justice in this country.
