20 Nov 13: "Newly minted NT Senator Nova Peris used her maiden speech to denounce plans to put a nuclear waste dump at Muckaty Station, raising concerns about the impact on indigenous people. Freelance writer Sally Whyte takes a look at the issue. In her maiden speech last week, the first indigenous woman to be elected to federal Parliament, NT Senator Nova Peris, issued a call to arms over a proposed nuclear waste dump at Muckaty Station. Peris said the NT facility would inflict "profound grief, suffering and loss on Aboriginal people"." Sally Whyte

22 Nov 13: "THE Territory’s newest Senator and the first Indigenous woman to be elected to Federal Parliament has used her maiden speech to speak about the proposed nuclear waste dump at Muckaty. Nova Peris said she believed it was her duty to deal with issues, such as the location of the nuclear waste facility, honestly and openly. ... Ms Peris acknowledged Australia needed a nuclear waste management facility but said its location must be based on science, not politics."

And traditional owner, Penny Phillips, wrote to Mr Macfarlane, urging him to meet with all groups. ... Prior to the September Federal election, she travelled to Canberra to meet with Gary Gray who succeeded Martin Ferguson as Resources Minister, encouraging him to visit, which he did. Now she wants the same from Mr Macfarlane."

Sydney Morning Herald: Kimberley Aborigines' fight for James Price point is now against WA's Premier
The Goolarabooloo fought off Woodside, and are ready to fight Western Australia's Premier, too.

23 Nov 13: "Before Australia's east coast had ever heard of James Price Point, even before the Broome township realised the high stakes, Goolarabooloo senior law man Phil Roe fought a guerilla-like battle against resources giant Woodside. It was Roe, a few mates and, of all things, a camel. For four years, Roe camped on his traditional land, a stretch of Kimberley coast earmarked for one of the biggest gas plants Australia had ever seen." 23 Nov 13: "The battle over proposed natural gas plants near Broome captured the hearts of singer-songwriter Missy Higgins, musician John Butler and businessman-turned-environ mentalist Geoffrey Cousins. But since resources company Woodside withdrew from building one of Australia's largest gas hubs on the red-cliffed Kimberley coast, east-coast conservationists have been accused of retreating ''back to their beautiful houses in Sydney'', leaving behind an unresolved mess."
