Sydney defend public housing rally

A protest organised by a local residents’ action "Hands off Glebe" to stop the demolition of public housing in Cowper St. The 15 buildings on the Cowper St site have the capacity to house 289 people but the former NSW Labor government decided to sell most of the land to private developers, with the remnant being earmarked for new public and so called affordable housing. The newly-elected Greens MP for Balmain, Jamie Parker, joined and addressed the protest. Workers on the site stopped work for the day in support.

Every civil citizen of Australia is on your side with this.
Public housing is and was establsihed for right and just purposes.
It's here to stay even as greed of the government and property developers has now been established.
Good article after being told the government greedy roughshod want to sell off all public housing in next ten years guess they're in for a whole lot of civil disobedience and a whole lot of public not limited to public tenants having a big big say.
The Glebe issue is one of many with Housing NSW.
Central magazine had an article about tenants suing dept over what they endlessly ignore Anti social behaviour and the judge declared Housing in the wrong.
Think article is roung 22nd 23rd March 2011 and be found on website under Central Magazine Sydney.
The shame of abolishing the Glebe public housing echoes what this government and opposition think about euality and basic housing human rights They dont care about people at all just revenue and land grabs.
Profit over people never works long term.

Social Worker advocating justice for all public housing tenants rights to non-homelessness.

Public Housing isn't going completely but the article is right the corruption at Housing NSW and Housing Victoria is writhe. (It's a joke 'cause everyone knows and there's records galore about this.)
Everyone knows about it & people from all walks of life have to start speaking up.
Guess they are.
We need a change as in new thinking from the governments otherwise they'll have more dirt on their hands than the Aboriginals digging those piles of manuer in the disgusting conditions in some parts of Northern Territory.
The Greens are the only ones showing any ounce of conscience.
The two parties have lost the plot or what.

Capitalism is the new scurge of the NWO New World Order, where corrupt people use capitalist polices to victimize the innocent & nice people of this world.

Their will never be adequate public housing in Australia when the Capitalist Liberal or Labour Governments call the shots.
