Activist Films Perth Wikileaks rally video: 29th January 2011

29 January a group of freedom of speech activists rallied to defend wikileaks. The rally was in response to attacks made on wikileaks and key people involved in it by various government organisations around the world, especially America (where some senior politicians have called for him to assassinated) and also Australia.

After WikiLeaks in 2010 released cables on American ‘diplomatic’ reports on the world and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The cables reveal many examples of American imperialism, ongoing abuse of human rights that have being known by governments around the world who have done nothing to stop them and the warmongering nature of various first world governments amongst other information that beings to reveal the extend to which the elite in the world inflict human rights abuses and are corrupt to the bone in their quest for power and money.

The rally is also in defence of the internet, with increasing attacks on it to stop people accessing information and using to voice their feelings on injustices in the world. With the ex Egypt regime at one point taking the whole country off the internet as they saw how strong it is in creating a people’s movement for social justice. Also the American government currently trying to get twitter to release information about the accounts of supporters of wikileaks.

Currently Assange is being held under house arrest and is in an ongoing extradition hearing, with America trying to get him extradited to Sweden so they can then try and extradite him to America. He still hasn’t being charged with anything.

Bradley Manning has being held in in solitary confinement in an American prison, as the US government suspect him of leaking the military cables. He has being held for the last several months and still hasn’t being charged with anything.
