Stop the Intervention:
A new chapter in the struggle of Indigenous Australians - John Pilger
23 Apr 10: "What Richard and the Alya-warr people are saying is that they will not meet with Jenny Macklin or Kevin Rudd until the government abolishes the Intervention and fully restores the Racial Discrimination Act. In other words, they're on strike -- like the Gurindji -- and the aim of tonight's meeting is to call on all Australians to walk off with them: to stand with them."

Indymedia Australia: Next Aboriginal summit in Sydney in May
26 Apr 10: "Aboriginal political activist, Michael Anderson, says the New Way Task Force will host the second New Way Summit at the Sydney University on the 8th and 9th May. “This national summit will again be broadcast live throughout the internet for all to see,” Mr Anderson said, adding that the Task Force would include any feedback or discussion people may wish to engage in during the proceedings of the summit itself. The first summit in Canberra in January concentrated primarily on the issue of the continuing sovereignty of Aboriginal nations and this summit will again focus on recent research on this matter."
[To find the venue enter Sydney Uni through the main gate off City Road and it's the second building on the right facing Victoria Road a new building with lots of glass. Apparently, there'll be plenty of flags and signs to mark the way.]

Jobs With Justice: May Day Rally Fights for Aboriginal Workers’ Rights
30 Apr 10: "The Intervention Rollback Action Group (IRAG) , local trade unionists and representatives from a number of Aboriginal communities will stage a demonstration in Alice Springs this Saturday May 1st, international day for workers rights. The protest will highlight the huge loss of employment in communities that has come with the NT Intervention, severe cuts to Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) and the dissolution of Aboriginal Community Councils in favour of mega-Shires. The protest will demand serious government investment to provide properly waged employment and services in all Aboriginal communities and an immediate end to new CDEP arrangements which are forcing Aboriginal people to work for their quarantined Centrelink payments."
