Transitions film festival presents International Energy Futures.

The transitions film festival launch features two documentaries. The transition towards a sustainable society will require an energy revolution, away from non-renewable fossil fuels toward clean renewable energy forms. The documentaries in the International Energy Futures showcase prove that this clean energy future is not only possible, it’s happening now.

ENERGY AUTONOMY – Australian Premiere
Sun‭, ‬wind‭, ‬hydro and geothermal energy are natural sources accessible to everyone all over the world without making any difference‭. ‬And they are renewable‭, ‬free and available in the long run‭. ‬Only the widespread knowledge about the possibilities of renewable energy can ignite an international movement and take the absolutely necessary energy transition‭. ‬

The cinema documentary ENERGY AUTONOMY‭: ‬THE 4TH REVOLUTION‭ ‬describes the possibility to switch to 100%‭ ‬renewables within the next 30‭ ‬years by telling the stories of its protagonists‭, ‬a prominent environmental activist‭, ‬Nobel laureates‭, ‬innovative businessmen and politicians‭. ‬It demonstrates the opportunities which will be provided by the energy revolution regarding the sustainable‭ ‬economic development and social and economic fairness‭.‬

Its message‭: ‬The transition is possible‭. ‬ The only precondition‭: ‬We need to want it‭!‬

THE FUTURE MAKERS
With recent attention on global warming‭, ‬there’s been a big focus on the problem‭, ‬but what about the solutions‭? ‬This documentary tells the story of key Australians leading the‭ ‬way on the world stage in renewable energy‭. ‬Some are designing a future based on models in nature‭. ‬Others are creating a sustainable energy model for a 21st Century economy‭. ‬Exploring biomimicry‭, ‬solar PV and thermal‭, ‬geo-thermal and hot rocks and wave power‭, ‬it covers a broad spectrum‭, ‬but also brings it down to an Australian context and points out how we still lead the world in‭ ‬some of these technologies‭. ‬
