WILDERNESS INFO ON THE EVENT:
Coal Seam Gas companies are carrying out an uncontrolled experiment on the Queensland environment. There are potentially catastrophic consequences for water supplies, communities and the environment.

The coal seam gas industry has plans to move into many, many parts of Australia, including the Hunter Valley and northern NSW. While this is happening on the Western Downs today, it could be happening in your area tomorrow.

The Wilderness Society Newcastle invites you to join environmentalists, farmers and coal community groups from around NSW on a bus trip to the Tara Convergence, in southern Queensland.

The Tara four-day event includes forums, workshops, entertainment and direct action for the national movement against the Coal and Coal Seam Gas mining.

Local organisers The Western Downs Alliance are engaged in a stand-off with the British Gas-owned QGC. QGC intend to establish a gas field early in 2011 on the Tara rural residential estates, home to more than 2,000 people.
