Students for Palestine hosts an evening with Iraqi born UK MC Lowkey

Lowkey is a London-based poet, playwright, political activist and award-winning rapper LOWKEY. Touring Australia for the first time as part of his Soundtrack to the Struggle World Tour, LOWKEY will be appearing at Trades Hall in a Q and A with audience participation for ONE NIGHT ONLY.

Born of mixed Iraqi and English descent, LOWKEY first earned his name, literally, at the age of 17, when he bested a local rapper named Loki at an open mic session in central London. By 2005, LOWKEY earned critical acclaim for his mixtape, “Key to the Game”, winning Best Newcomer awards at the Lyric Pad Hip Hop Awards and in Undercover Magazine.

He is active in radical movements in London and has participated in one of the Viva Palestina convoys.

LOWKEY has toured internationally with hip-hop legends Immortal Technique, Dead Prez and Canibus.

(Lowkey will be performing on Sunday 23rd at the Prince of Wales Bandroom (29 Fitzroy Road St Kilda) from 7pm onwards. The concert is a fundraising event, with 100% of all profits to be donated to humanitarian/development projects in Gaza and Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.)
