A one day seminar, featuring talks and workshops on how to build a people’s resistance to the Abbott government’s attacks on workers, the environment, women, refugees and migrants.
The seminar will kick off at 10.30am with a welcome and acknowledgement of country.
At 11am, the opening panel “workers, refugees, environment: In the firing line, but fighting back” will feature the following speakers:
•Tim Gooden, Secretary, Geelong Trade Hall Council;
•Chloe Aldenhoven from Quit Coal; and
•Karen Jones from the Refugee Action Collective
After lunch, there will be a series of workshops on feminism (“What kind of feminism are we fighting for?”), the environment (“Beyond market solutions: Fighting for environmental justice”) and social change (“How could the struggle for socialism develop in Australia?”)
At 3.15pm, the closing panel “No justice, no peace! Uniting to fight racism” will focus on the rise of racism, and will feature the following speakers:
•Anthony Kelly, from the Flemington-Kensington Community Legal Centre;
•Ngoc Le, a Vietnamese anti-racism activist and
•Ben Sexton, and activist with the newly formed Combined Refugee Action Group.

Full seminar: $15 waged / $8 concession
