R.I.S.E (Refugees, Survivors and Ex-Detainees) is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Music and Arts Festival 2011. The annual R.I.S.E Music and Arts Festival is to be held on 15th October 2011 at the Main Square of Federation Square, Melbourne.
From traditional West Papuan music to global hip hop, this showcase of refugee talent is an expression of the vast experience and cultural assets within the refugee community.
With member representation from over 30 migrant communities, our organisation seeks to enable people from similar backgrounds build new lives and make meaningful contributions to society. R.I.S.E recognises the value of youth development and aims to use, amongst other projects, Art, Music and Entertainment to engage young people.
Through the R.I.S.E Music and Arts Festival, we also aim to not only promote greater awareness of and participation in arts activities within refugee communities, but also celebrate cultural diversity with the Victorian community more broadly.
