The Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce is organising a business lunch on June 29 titled "Nuclear Energy after Fukushima".
The Dimona nuclear reactor in Israel is used in a covert nuclear weapons program which fuels nuclear proliferation across the region. Israel has consistently been accused by Palestinian groups of using depleted uranium weaponry and dumping nuclear waste on their lands.
Speakers at the event include Resources Minister Martin Ferguson and nuclear advocate Ziggy Switkowski,Former Chair of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation.
Martin Ferguson is aggressively pushing expansion the nuclear industry in Australia, from uranium mining through to the planned nuclear waste dump on Aboriginal land at Muckaty in the NT.
Ziggy Switkowski, publicly advocates for nuclear power in Australia and is a (non executive) director of controversial company Lynas, which is planning to dump radioactive waste from its rare earth mine in Western Australia in Malaysia.
The lunch invitation laments that in Australia "...the nuclear option (despite uranium being in plentiful supply), has been sidelined as part of the mix for alternative clean energy solutions".
Nuclear power is no solution to climate change and this toxic industry is blocking a transition to renewable energy.
While the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce meet, uranium mined in Australia will continue to fuel the catastrophe at Japan's crippled Fukushima nuclear plant. The Japanese government now admits three meltdowns have occurred during the crisis, workers and communities continue to worry about health effects from the accident and concern is spreading around the world as products are exported from the contaminated region.
MUA Assistant National Secretary Warren Smith has raised concern this week about contamination of vehicles from Japan arriving in Port Kembla adding, "We're of the view testing needs to be more comprehensive and needs to be expanded into other forms of cargo than motor vehicles"
Since taking office the Labor government has expanded uranium exploration and mining, including approval of a new mine at Beverly Four Mile. The proposed expansion of the Olympic Dam mine in SA would create the biggest open cut mine on earth, leaking 8 million litres of radioactive liquid tailings every day.
Aboriginal people at Muckaty in the Northern Territory continue to resist the imposition of a nuclear waste dump on their land, despite legislation enabling the dump set to pass the Senate in July.
Demand an immediate halt to uranium mining and dumping in Australia. Stand with the people of Japan. Help fight for a clean energy future.

The AICC Clean Tech website features 1,000 Australian companies involved with renewable energy, recycling and water purification. Nimbin's Rainbow Power Company was included without their knowledge. I wrote to all Australian AICC offices, one in Tel Aviv, and to Israeli ambassador Rotem who is patron of the AICC, asking whether the AICC obtains permission from companies included on their web site? I got the following reply from Michael Nathan:

You clearly don't like Israel.
Well nobody is perfect.
Can I suggest however that after you read this email that you destroy your computer. Over 40% of the Hi Tech content of your computer was made or invented in Israel.
Whilst you are at it, please also throw away you mobile phone. It too has an even higher percentage of Israeli componentry in it and is filled with Israeli know how and hi tech gadgetry.
I do trust you are not using Google because it also runs on Israeli algorithms.
And I hope your not using Microsoft Windows XP or Vista or Microsoft Office. Yes they were invented in Israel too.
And yes your firewalls and virus protection software was also invented and made in Israel.
Might I respectfully suggest that you write a letter to the Israeli Embassy with your concerns.
I'm assuming you are a man of integrity and repute who could not allow himself to be seen associated with Israeli inventions so phoning and emails are clearly out of the question.
I'm sure that as a man in search of Peace and Justice that you are keen to at least here the other side if only out of a sense of fair play.

It is truly appalling that Minister Ferguson has accepted the AICC invitation to speak at this pro-nuclear forum run by an arm of the Israeli government which is itself a nuclear armed terrorist state. Not content with stealing Australian passports for an assassination attempt they now appear to be using Australian companies in an attempt to brighten Israel's tarnished image.
