Despite Labor's October announcement that all children would be released from detention, there are still more than 1,000 children locked up.

More than 140 young asylum seekers from the ages of 13-18 are detained in the Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation at Camp Road, Broadmeadows. Many of these young people have no family in Australia. Most of them are teenage boys whose fathers, brothers or other family members have been killed and their families have sent them out of the country to save their lives. Mandatory detention of any asylum seeker is inhumane, but it is especially inhumane for children and teenagers.
Gather @ the carpark of Hungry Jacks/Il Divo Italian Restaurant, corner Camp Road & Sydney Road, Broadmeadows
Then march to Camp Road entrance to detention centre for speakers and symbolic action.
