Every month cyclists in over 200 cities throughout the world ride to celebrate bike awareness and pollution-free transit.
Critical Mass is a monthly bicycle ride to celebrate cycling and to assert cyclists right to the road. Critical Mass is an autonomous event, with no leaders and no set agenda. The event is intended to be a celebration, a spontaneous gathering of people, not an opportunity to cause trouble. We come together to ride, to assert cyclists right to safety on the road and to promote bikes as a fun, healthy, viable alternative to cars. The aim of Critical Mass is to build a greater sense of community, to get more folks on bikes and simply to celebrate bike love and ride in solidarity with other like minded individuals.
Critical Mass should not be seen as just an event for cyclists, bring any other human powered wheels. NO MOTORS!
Support for Critical Mass in Melbourne has dwindled in recent years. However, it is important for the bicycle community to ride against car dominated culture and to grow as an event to raise awareness of our need for alternative modes of transport.
Come ride this Friday the 30th of November to celebrate the 17th Anniversary of Critical Mass in Melbourne.
